The Monterey County Vintners & Growers' Association (MCVGA) brings together the talents and resources of members, partners and our community in order to promote and support our leadership in the art, the science and the business of wine.
History
In 1973 a small group of grape growers and wine producers created the Monterey Winegrowers Council, renamed Monterey Country Vintners and Growers Association (MCVGA) to establish Monterey County as a premium wine grape-growing region.
The Association's charter members include a prestigious list of California vintners and winegrowers: Edmond Mirassou of Mirassou Vineyards; Jean Wente of Wente Bros; Richard Graff of Chalone Vineyard; Gerald Asher and Dr. Richard Peterson of The Monterey Vineyard; Myron McFarland of McFarland Management Company; Stanford Wolf, Joe Stilwell and Augustin Huneeus of Paul Masson Vineyards; W.W. Durney of Durney Vineyard; John McLelland of Almaden Vineyard; Jerry Lohr of J. Lohr Winery; Jack Tjeerdsma and Rich Smith of Junction Viticulture; Soren Axelsen of International Vineyards; and Terrel West of Arroyo Seco Vineyards.
To ensure consistently superior products, the Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association set certain criteria for each Monterey County vineyard or winery wishing to become a member of the association.
Elected annually, the president of Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association oversees functions and projects of the association. MCVGA produces a variety of promotional materials and events designed to promote the world-class wines of Monterey. If you are interested in more information about any of our members, please contact the vineyard or winery directly, or call the MCVGA office at (831) 375-9400 or
