WINE BOOT CAMP PLANS MISSION IN MONTEREY COUNTY
MONTEREY, CA. - May14, 2002 - On September 14, 2002, wine novices and experts alike will gather in Monterey County for the first ever Monterey County Wine Boot Camp.
The Monterey Coast is world-famous for unparalleled scenic beauty...Big Sur's rugged shore, Carmel's bleached sands, and Pebble Beach's gentle tidepools. Monterey County wines thrive in those same elements... warm sun, cool fog, ancient soils, the building blocks of winegrowing.
Wine Boot Camp is a day of intensive wine training. Upon completion of basic training, recruits' marksmanship in the field of fine wines will be right on target.
The morning mission site will be at Ventana Vineyards. Wine Boot Camp recruits will work hands-on in the vineyard under the tutelage of the masterful guidance of the Ventana Vineyards team.
The Santa Lucia Highlands is home to Paraiso Vineyards. Wine Boot Camp recruits will enjoy lunch in the vineyard at Paraiso Springs Vineyards highlighted by their very special wines.
The last mission of the day will be at Hahn Estates/Smith & Hook The Wine Boot Camp troops will learn the art of winemaking under the tutelage of Adam LaZarre, winemaker for Hahn Estates and Smith & Hook. Each recruit will bottle their own wine blended from the fabulous wines at Hahn Estates/Smith & Hook.
Other assignments of the day will include the highly acclaimed Aromatic Workshop conducted by Affairs of the Vine. The evening detail will feature a tasting of some of Monterey County's finest wines (Monterra, Chateau Julien, Scheid, Blackstone, J. Lohr, and Cloninger) followed by a mouth-watering Food & Wine Pairing at Hahn Estates/Smith & Hook.
Raw recruits and wine generals alike will relish the experiences provided by this very special Wine Boot Camp.
