Wine Lovers Celebrate the Wonders of Monterey County at the 8th Annual
Great Wine Escape Weekend
Monterey Wine Country Showcases That Great Taste Comes with the Territory to the Delight of Wine and Culinary Enthusiasts
Monterey County, CA- November 15, 2004 - To the delight of repeat guests and newcomers to a growing wine region, The Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association (MCVGA) hosted the 8th Annual Great Wine Escape Weekend November 11th through November 14th. Wine enthusiasts enjoyed the finest that Monterey has to offer. The highlights of the weekend featured an Opening Reception Gala at The Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa, wine and food pairing seminars, open houses at the wineries, narrated bus tours, winemaker dinners throughout Monterey County, a silent auction, and the Grand Finalé at the Inn at Spanish Bay. The event had the complete hospitality community involved, with approximately 40 restaurants, four hotels, and 20 tasting rooms participating as hosts to guests of this growing wine region.
“It’s an experience we wouldn’t miss – great people, wonderful wine and I learn something useful about wine and food ever year I come. Last year it was port with chocolate; this year it was swirling and sniffing. Who knows what will happen next year?” commented Melinda Cain of Colorado. “Over the years, I have come to appreciate Monterey wines thanks to the “Taste of Monterey” wine club, and now the Great Wine Escape. I always look for Monterey wines wherever we dine, and will continue to promote the best wine country in the world!
The Great Wine Escape is an annual event held the second weekend in November. MCVGA sponsors two additional events throughout the year, including the Passport Weekend and Monterey Wine Auction and Gala in February and a Winemakers’ Celebration in August.
