One hundred twenty-five restaurants, hotels, distributors and wine retailers participated in the event which showcased the world class wines that are grown and produced in Monterey County.
This special tasting gave trade participants the opportunity to not only taste but also listen and discuss the features that make Monterey County unique from other wine growing regions with a panel of experts. Featured speakers at the event included winemaker Jerry Lohr, winery owner and grower Rich Smith, winemaker Richard Boyer, restaurateur, Kurt Grasings, and consumer David Nelson. Discussions highlighted: climatic differences, growing techniques, unique flavors, menu enhancing qualities, and wine selection criteria.
According to MCVGA Executive Director Ms. Rhonda Motil, "The educational focus of the trade tasting vas very well received by all the participants and helped to highlight the uniqueness of Monterey County wines. This was an excellent opportunity to showcase the premium wines in our region and to expose the local trade to wine selections that will undoubtedly enhance their menus or in-store product lines".
