Which Way to the Wineries?
“Getting to Know Your Wine Country” is the May 12th theme for Monterey County Concierges and Travel Professionals
Monterey County, CA- April 25, 2005 - The Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association, is pleased to offer the wine tasting event “Getting to Know Your Wine Country" on Thursday, May 12th from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at A Taste of Monterey on Cannery Row. Concierges, meeting planners, and travel professionals in the Monterey County area are invited to attend this complimentary event.
Famous scenery, golf, and restaurants are just a few of the things that Monterey is known for. However, what has been attracting a significant amount of attention over the past few years is the world-class wine that is being produced from Monterey County’s 75 vintners and growers. This very special wine tasting will introduce attendees to the evolution of Monterey Wine Country while guests taste award winning wines from local tasting rooms.
A sampling of the wineries that will be participating in the event include Blackstone Winery, Chalone Vineyard, Galante Vineyards, Hahn Estates / Smith & Hook Winery, Heller Estate, Joullian Vineyards, Pessagno Winery, Pianetta Winery, San Saba Vineyard, Scheid Vineyards, Silver Mountain, and Ventana Vineyards / Meador Estate.
“As the reputation of Monterey Wine Country continues to gain added exposure, it is important for me as a travel professional to be able to discuss with our guests the wineries and tasting rooms that have become an integral part of the hospitality community here in Monterey County,” commented Mary Ann Pierce, event planner at The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa. “With the addition of new tasting rooms in Monterey County, as well as the increased exposure that people now have to the concept of wine tours, I am looking for ways that I can help to make our guest’s experiences phenomenal – so much so that they can’t wait to come back to Monterey County! By attending this wine tasting, I hope to be able to educate myself further on the wine industry and add one more thing that will be a lasting experience for them.”
Guests of the event will have an opportunity to sign up for a two-week long Passport Weekend, designed especially for the hospitality industry. Attendees will also have the chance to win several prizes at the event, including a “Traveling in Style” limousine tour of Monterey Wine Country, a “Summer White” wine gift basket, and a “Passion for Pinot Noir” gift collection. As space is limited, reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling 831.375.9400 or by emailing events@montereywines.org
