Monterey County Vintners And Growers Association Announces The Date For The Premier Outdoor Wine Festival In Monterey County

The 12th Annual Winemakers’ Celebration is slated for August 21, 2004

Monterey, CA – June 23, 2004 - Join the Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association, MCVGA, at the 12th Annual Winemakers’ Celebration on Saturday, August 21, 2004 from 12pm - 4pm at the historic Custom House Plaza in downtown Monterey. The festivities include over thirty-five Monterey County wineries joining forces to showcase their world-class wines.

“The Winemakers’ Celebration typically occurs in early August, but we’ve opted to host the event as an ‘end of summer’ festival in 2004,” comments Rhonda Motil, Executive Director of the Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association. “People are always looking to wrap up their summer and vacation season with a fun celebration, and with the Monterey Winemakers’ Celebration in its 12th year, the event has developed quite a reputation for being the premier outdoor wine event in the region. What better finale could there be to the summer of 2004?”

The Winemakers’ Celebration incorporates wine tasting with education, food, and music in a fabulous setting. In addition to Monterey County wineries pouring their special wines for the day, unique educational seminars on blending techniques and organic wine growing will occur. Winemakers’ Celebration participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy great food offered by Monterey County restaurants and caterers; dance to the upbeat tunes of The Eldredge and Rossi Band; and place bids in an extraordinary wine auction featuring unique wine items such as rare bottles, wine art, old vintages, VIP winery tours and winemaker dinners.

“The wine seminars that we initiated at the event in 2003 were a huge success, so we’ve opted to bring them back in 2004 with more space and an added focus. We’ve also increased the number of wineries pouring this year, which will give our repeat guests some new wineries to enjoy,” states Tamara Weinstein, Event Director of MCVGA

Tickets are $30 per person in advance, or $35 per person at the event. Ticket price includes a Monterey Wine Country commemorative wineglass, tastings at the winery tables, participation at the seminars, and entertainment. Designated driver tickets are available for $15, and designated drivers will receive a souvenir mug and unlimited non-alcoholic drinks.
