MONTEREY, CA. - May14, 2002 - Celebrate Monterey Wine Country! Join the Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association, MCVGA, at the 10th Annual Winemakers' Celebration on Saturday, August 10, 2002 from 12-5pm at the historic Custom House Plaza in downtown Monterey. This festive event includes over thirty Monterey County wineries joining forces to showcase their world-class wines.
The Winemakers' Celebration incorporates wine tasting with education, food, music and fun! In addition to Monterey County wineries pouring their special wines for the day, unique educational wine displays will illustrate the process of creating fine wines. Exhibits will include grapevine pruning demonstrations, a winegrape varietal display, a sustainable agriculture exhibit, and wine barrel building from Seguin Moreau coopers - a rare treat for wine aficionados.
To make the 10th Annual Winemakers' Celebration different from all others, and to further involve the Monterey County Community, MCVGA sponsored an artistic competition. The competition featured local artists who designed wine themes that captured all of the key elements that differentiate Monterey County wines from all others. With an overwhelming response, two winners were selected. MCVGA is proud to honor both Yael Maayani and Sunee Jines of Monterey County as the winners of the competition. In addition to featuring their artwork for promotional materials, both artists will have the opportunity to display other pieces of their artwork at the event.
Winemakers' Celebration participants will have the chance to enjoy great food offered by Monterey County restaurants and caterers; dance to the upbeat tunes of The Eldredge and Rossi Band; and place bids in an extraordinary wine auction featuring unique wine items such as rare bottles, wine art, old vintages, VIP winery tours and winemaker dinners.
