MONTEREY COUNTY VINTNERS AND GROWERS ASSOCIATION
ANNOUNCES SUMMER CELEBRATION IN MONTEREY WINE COUNTRY
The 11th Annual Winemakers' Celebration scheduled for August 9, 2003
Monterey, CA - May 5, 2003 - Celebrate Monterey Wine Country! Join the Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association, MCVGA, at the 11th Annual Winemakers' Celebration on Saturday, August 9, 2003 from 12-4pm at the historic Custom House Plaza in downtown Monterey. The festivities include over thirty-five Monterey County wineries joining forces to showcase their world-class wines.
The Winemakers' Celebration incorporates wine tasting with education, food, music and fun! In addition to Monterey County wineries pouring their special wines for the day, unique educational seminars on blending techniques and organic wine growing will be added to this year's event. Winemakers' Celebration participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy great food offered by Monterey County restaurants and caterers; dance to the upbeat tunes of The Eldredge and Rossi Band; and place bids in an extraordinary wine auction featuring unique wine items such as rare bottles, wine art, old vintages, VIP winery tours and winemaker dinners.
"Everyone from wine novices to wine enthusiasts have expressed how much they enjoy the educational aspect that the Winemakers' Celebration has to offer, "states Tamara Weinstein, Event Director of MCVGA. "We've hosted seminars on everything from grapevine pruning to barrel building and wine storage. These types of forums help to provide some insight to the consumer as to the care and effort that must be taken from the first stage of growing the grapes to the final point where the wine is enjoyed. MCVGA continuously strives to bring our events to a new level and the 11th Annual Winemakers' Celebration is certain to please all guests."
To further involve the Monterey County Community, MCVGA sponsored an artistic competition. The competition was supported by local artists who designed wine themes that captured all of the key elements that differentiate Monterey County wines other regions. Due to an overwhelming response of exceptional pieces, two winners were selected. MCVGA is proud to honor both Laura Carley and Dan Koffman of Monterey County as the winners of the competition. In addition to featuring their artwork for promotional materials and logo items, both artists will have the opportunity to display other pieces of their artwork at the event.
Tickets are $30 per person in advance, or $35 per person at the event. Ticket price includes a Monterey Wine Country commemorative wineglass, tastings at the wineries, and entertainment.
