The 11th Annual Winemakers' Celebration Gathers Record Crowd In Monterey Wine Country
Guests celebrate the fabulous wines of Monterey County at the August 9, 2003 event
MONTEREY, CA. - August 12, 2003 - The Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association (MCVGA) hosted nearly 2,000 guests for the 11th Annual Winemakers' Celebration at the historic Custom House Plaza in downtown Monterey. The festivities featured over thirty-five Monterey County wineries joining forces to showcase their world-class wines.
Winemakers' Celebration participants had the opportunity to enjoy great food offered by Monterey County restaurants and caterers; danced to the upbeat tunes of The Eldredge and Rossi Band; and placed bids in an extraordinary wine auction that included unique wine items such as rare bottles, wine art, old vintages, VIP winery tours and winemaker dinners. As a new feature for the 2003 event, MCVGA also hosted educational seminars on the latest developments in organic winemaking and let guests try their hand at blending techniques.
"This is a great event for both locals and guests to Monterey County to enjoy the wines of the region in one central location," stated Tamara Weinstein, Events Director of MCVGA. She continued, "The educational forums were extremely well attended with a standing room only crowd. Consumers definitely have an interest in learning more about winemaking. We have such a friendly hospitality environment in Monterey Wine Country that our winemakers demystify the winemaking process in an open, fun atmosphere. This makes the experience enjoyable for everyone and serves as one of the major reasons why our events continue to grow from year to year."
